This debut album made Snoop Doggy Dogg, although he featured on Dre's The Chronic and was quite lyrically involved on the album, Doggystyle created a star and a millionaire almost overnight.

Doggystyle became the first LP to debut at #1 and contains 2 top 10 hits.
These tracks were "Gin & Juice" which was nominated for a 1995 Grammy Award for the Best Rap Solo Performance and "Who Am I (What's My Name)?". These helped Snoop gain recognition from the entire music industry and not just the rap scene. Dr Dre helped produce this album which guaranteed a top ten spot in the pop charts emphasising the mainstream acceptance that Snoop Doggy Dogg has achieved.

Rolling Stone - "...Doggystyle is filled with verbal and vocal feats that meet its three-mile-high expectations....Doggystyle speeds through 55 minutes of constant talk as if on a suicide hot line...."

New Musical Express - "...Masterminded by Dr. Dre's faultless production, Doggystyle is both a wonderfully comic splurge of Parliament funking and barely suppressed violence..."

Melody Maker - "...The music is sumptuous, soulful and genuinely menacing....Snoop Dogg is the real McCoy...."
